Brian Farris joined Carter Road late in 2006 after auditioning for the vacant spot left by the former drummer.
Having a background in all types of music, Brian would provide a solid backbeat for the music of Carter Road.
Brian started playing the drums at age 11. At age 14 his parents bought him his first drumset, which he still
plays today. He taught himself drumset by playing along with his favorite CD’s.
Brian has always had a love for all types of music. When he was young, he would go with his parents to
concerts and dream of being a drummer in a band. Country music was the music he was first interested in.
After MTV and VH1 appeared on television, he was exposed to pop/rock music. Through the late 80’s he
jumped on the “hair band” wagon and idolized such groups as Poison, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses and
more. In the 90’s he looked up to the grunge bands of the time, such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and
Stone Temple Pilots. Through high school he started listening to the Dave Matthews Band, which really gave
him a new approach to playing. The style of Carter Beauford showed him that the drummer could really
accent the music and not just provide the beat.
Since Brian is a fan of all types of music, he uses that to put his own personal touch on all the music played
with Carter Road.
